This course addresses contractual risk management from the perspective of the risk management cycle: risk identification, qualitative assessment, preliminary allocation, quantification, early mitigation, structuring and final allocation, contractual implementation, and risk management throughout the life of the contract.
The course covers the different stages of risk management from the perspective of the contracting authority (project sponsor) and relevant central government agencies, providing practical guidance on approaches, tools, and good practices for each stage of the cycle.
Particular attention is given to best practices in risk allocation, both from a heuristic perspective (practical guidance to identify when a risk should be retained or shared) and from the perspective of key international standards and approaches applied in selected developing economies.
Several national PPP risk management guidelines are reviewed, and case studies are discussed.
The Best Practice in PPP Contract Management course and certification is a mandatory prerequisite to sit the official examination administered by APMG International and to access the Practitioner certificate in PPP contract management.
The examination consists of two parts: one more theoretical, focused on fundamentals, and one more practical, for a total of 40 questions.
A score of 50% (20/40) grants the BPCM™ Foundation certificate.
To obtain the Practitioner certificate, a score of 70% (28/40) is required. The examination is closed book and can be taken through your accredited training provider.
